Building Links

Link building is the most important and skilful use of SEO without being charged for advertising. Editorial links are the links acquired from exchanging links with a website that has similar content. They are also attractive because if the other site has good content and marketing strategies it counts for a lot. Called resource links, these are hyperlinks to a website or a specific webpage containing content that is beneficial, useful and relevant to people visiting the site that you are linking to.

A reciprocal link is a mutual link between two websites that will attract similar traffic. Take for instance website A links to website B they are then reciprocally linked.  Website owners often submit their sites to reciprocal link exchange directories in order to achieve higher rankings in the search engines., however these days it does not do a lot of good, in fact it can damage your ranking as it can appear your site is spamming.

Resource links have grown in importance because most major search engines have made it plain that search engines like to see quantity, quality, and relevance in the links and that counts towards your rating with the search engines. Some people say they are old fashioned and not needed but they are so wrong as they are a fantastically cheap way of promoting your site as we have proven in the past so many times, and we would be happy to  develop a link building plan for you.

A search engine measures your sites value and relevance by analysing the links to the site from other websites. The resulting link popularity is a measure of the number and quality of links to a website. It is an integral part of a websites ranking in search engines. Search engines examine each of the links to a particular website to determine the links  value. Although most links to a website can be a vote in its favour, however the content needs to be relevant to be counted.

Despite warning web clients to avoid using a link to any site, some do not realise that  unless the site you are linking to is directed in some way to the content of your site it will not work, just adding other links that do not have relevance is useless and in fact can severely damage your sites rankings. Always ensure all links must have content that refers to the aims of your site e.g. it is no good if your site is a building company and you link to an Accountant, they will see this as irrelevant, however if you link to an Architect they will like it. You must always ensure that the company you are linking to links back as otherwise search engines will not pick it up well. Search engines usually treat links as votes for popularity. It is imperative to  also check your link is to a trusted site very carefully and ensure that the back link is well connected to your trade. Search engines use complex algorithms to check evaluations of sites and pages based on this information.

Always remember that trustworthy sites tend to link to other trusted sites and get good results however if you link to sites that are not well respected or not in your trade category it can be a black mark against you.
